For optimal results from your hair transplant treatment, it is important that you follow a number of instructions. After your treatment, these instructions will be reviewed with you and you will receive the necessary aftercare products. Below is a summary of aftercare instructions and what you can take into account when planning a treatment.
It is important to take it easy because you have undergone medical treatment.
First 2 nights sleeping on your back with the upper body partially upright (with additional help from the travel pillow if necessary) . You will be given a travel pillow to take home.
Do not touch the grafts or wet or sweat the head.
Stay out of the sun, don't go to the tanning bed and don't schedule a sauna visit in the first 4 weeks.
In case of pain, you can take painkillers for as long as necessary. You will be given paracetamol to take home.
In case of itching of the donor area: cool with coldpack (place in freezer on treatment day). You will be given a cold pack to take home.
1.2. Instructions day 3 through day 5
You may sleep the 3rd night as you are used to.
You may wear a loose-fitting cap.
Keep calm, do not touch the grafts yet and do not wet the head yet.
When swelling (and preventing it), keep the head back as much as possible.
1.3. Instructions day 6 to day 10
You can gently wash the hair for the first time on day 6. For the following days, you can wash the hair daily until the scabs disappear.
1.4. Instructions day 10 to 12 months
You may return to caring for the scalp and hair as you were used to before the treatment.
Sports (except contact sports), swimming and going to the hairdresser are allowed again.
Hair loss can occur the first 2 months and usually within 14 days.
Small wounds and irritations may occur.
Final check-up 12 months after treatment. You will receive an invitation to this by email.
