In recent decades, hair transplant techniques have become more and more refined and improved. For a good result, not only the hair transplantation techniques are important, sufficient good donor material is still needed. Zantman Clinic performs treatments according to the FUE technique. Many variations are possible, such as micro FUE and DHI. We would like to tell you more about the different hair transplantation techniques and what it involves.
Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) is the newest technique for hair transplantation. It is known as the most advanced method because it is the least invasive of all available techniques. Moreover, it is an improved version of the older FUT technique. Therefore, FUE is currently the most widely used method of hair transplantation worldwide and continues to gain ground over the FUT technique. The main difference between the two techniques is the way the grafts (groups of hair follicles) are removed from the donor area at the back of the head. In FUT, a strip of skin is removed, while in FUE, the grafts are harvested one at a time. This difference ensures faster and better recovery after FUE treatment. It constitutes the biggest distinction between these two different hair transplant techniques. The rise of FUE has made hair transplants more accessible and has led to their growing popularity.

The FUT technique is the older version of hair transplant techniques. FUT stands for Follicular Unit Transplantation. Before the advent of FUE, this was the standard technique in the field of hair transplantation.
In the FUT technique, a strip of skin is removed from the hair crown at the back of your head. This donor area is not susceptible to hormonal changes or other causes of hair loss, so these hair roots can be used to be re-implanted elsewhere on the scalp. The hair roots retain their genetic characteristics even after removal from the hair wreath, with the result that new hair growth can occur in the areas that have gone bald.
Many grafts can be placed during a day treatment thanks to hair transplantation techniques, making a single treatment sufficient in most cases. A major disadvantage is that due to the wound suture, a visible scar the size of a pencil mark remains after the strip of skin is removed. With a haircut with longer hair, the scar can be camouflaged just fine.
It can sometimes be the case that treatment with the FUT method suits a client's needs better. For example, with back problems, the posture with the FUE method is a disadvantage that factors into the choice. It is therefore important to choose which of the different hair transplantation techniques suits your needs.
