Code of Ethics ISHRS

ISHRS (International Society for Hair Restoration Surgery) code of ethics.

"The ISHRS is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to advance technique and science in the field of hair transplantation. Members are licensed and experienced physicians and the goal is to optimize their level of knowledge regarding hair transplant techniques and related issues.

There should be a free exchange of ideas and knowledge among members. All this in the interest of professional treatments and patient safety."

With this in mind, the ISHRS has established a code of ethics to which members can be expected to subscribe.

Membership in the ISHRS is a privilege for physicians who maintain high moral and professional standards. It is not a right. The ethical principles adopted by the members of the ISHRS are essential and determine the (honorable) conduct of the hair transplant physician.

1. Members recognize the need for high moral responsibility in cosmetic surgery, given the lack of government oversight and the emotional involvement of the client.
2. Members recognize that they are in a position of trust and will not betray that trust.
3. Members will not demand emotional or financial benefits from the client.
4. Members recognize that they are responsible for the client's appearance, self-confidence and possibly success for life. With each treatment, life-long effects are considered in light of ongoing hair loss.
5. Members will recommend to each client a treatment that they themselves or a member of their family would also undergo under the same circumstances.
6. Members will let truth and integrity prevail in their advertisements and avoid untrue expressions.
7. Members will not give misleading information about their colleagues with the intent to damage the reputation or Clinic of another member of the ISHRS, either directly or indirectly, whether in print, radio, television, internet advertisements, internet website activities or any other public statement by both members and their representatives. Violation of this code will not be accepted and is grounds for disciplinary action.
8. Members with knowledge of an illegal or improper action by another physician should report this activity.
9. Members should study continuously and apply advanced knowledge. Members should pass on this knowledge to colleagues.
10. Confidential information of the client will be kept private. Information can only be disclosed with the express consent of the client, except as otherwise required by Law.
11. Members should adhere to the codes of ethics of the medical organizations in their respective countries.
