What hair treatments are there?

This article discusses the various hair treatments available to improve the quality of hair. Hair treatments are also done to change the color or texture of the hair. These are hair treatments that are more likely to worsen hair quality. We will leave these hair treatments out of this article. The hair treatments in this article are divided into hair treatments by a hairdresser and medical hair treatments. The latter are the treatments often chosen to prevent and/or repair the effects of hair loss.

Hair treatments by a hairdresser or hair stylist

Would you like advice on the treatments below? If so, contact your hairdresser. Have these treatments performed by a good hairdresser or hair stylist to avoid damage.

Hair masks and restorative treatments

These are treatments designed to nourish, hydrate and restore hair, often with
using special ingredients such as oils, proteins and vitamins.

Nutritional supplements

Supplements such as Biotin, vitamin D, iron and omega-3 fatty acids can be used to promote overall hair health and reduce hair loss.

Scalp treatments

These treatments focus on scalp health and may include exfoliation, hydration and massage to promote blood circulation and improve the condition of the scalp.

Hair replacement

There are barber stores that also make wigs, hairpieces or hair prosthetics to create the appearance of thicker hair in people with severe hair loss. It is also possible to go to a specialized
hair clinic for this purpose.

Zantman Clinic did hair works in the early years, but later specialized entirely in
hair transplant treatments.

Medical hair treatments

Medication

Would you like advice for your situation regarding the use of the medications listed below? Please contact your physician at
.

Minoxidil (Rogaine)

This is a topical treatment applied directly to the scalp. It is used for both male and female pattern baldness and can help stimulate hair growth and slow hair loss. More information about Minoxidil can be found in this article.

Finasteride (Propecia)

This is an oral medication prescribed only for men. It works by inhibiting the conversion of testosterone into dihydrotestosterone (DHT), a hormone that can cause hair loss. More information about Finasteride can be found in this article.

Topical medication

In addition to Minoxidil, there are other topical medications available, such as corticosteroids, which can be used to treat hair loss in cases of alopecia areata or other conditions.

Medical intervention

Hair transplant

This is a medical procedure in which hair follicles are moved from the donor area of the scalp to areas where hair is thinner or missing. There are several techniques, including follicular unit transplantation (FUT) and follicular unit extraction (FUE).

Zantman Clinic specializes in these hair treatments. The different types of hair transplant treatments are further explained on the hair transplant page.

Laser Therapy

This includes using low levels of laser light to stimulate hair follicles, improve blood circulation and promote hair growth.

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy

This is a procedure in which the patient's blood is drawn, centrifuged to increase the concentration of platelets, and then
injected into the scalp to stimulate hair growth.

PRP treatment is sometimes offered in combination with hair transplant treatment. At
Zantman Clinic this is not done because the impact of PRP is then only noticeable in the short term. In the long term, it requires a large investment with little guarantee of results.
