The hair loss process

Jeroen, of course, often sees himself back in the picture. "And that's a bit of a process. You see over the years such a hairline receding, coves getting bigger. It's not my big hobby to see myself back, but it's a consequence of my work. Then you see the differences and notice it. Getting older I don't find any problem, but that the hair recedes I find unfortunate."

It was mostly the slow process that bothered Jeroen. "If you're bam: bald all at once, that can look really good. But with me it was so gradual. A little less here, a little thinner there... I tried my best to still wear nice hairstyles, but I couldn't do it as well. Also: I am used to looking at things from my work perspective. So a full head of hair then gives more flexibility for different roles."

And so for Jeroen, there was only one thing to do: a hair transplant. "I never take any chances. So I started doing comparative merchandise research," Jeroen laughs. "Online, I quickly came across Zantman Clinic. Mainly because I enjoyed reading the experience stories. Then you feel the process. I do need more than a recruiting phrase to be persuaded. On top of that, it is the oldest Clinic in the Netherlands. That all gave me such a good feeling. After the consultation, I was completely won over. That too felt solid and reliable. The doctor even came in to feel my hair, which of course I am used to from the make-up on set."

A hair-sparing treatment

Jeroen opted for a hair-sparing treatment, where 1,500 grafts were put back on the front of his head. "The day itself was relaxed, although of course it was quite exciting because it's your first time experiencing it. The whole team was very nice, involved and careful. There are no surprises and so the procedure was a snap. Then I was told exactly how the next few days would go. You feel they have so much experience. And you see that they enjoy their work. That makes such a day fly by while they are fiddling with you," Jeroen laughs.

Jeroen did not feel shame. "Those around me found it especially interesting and wanted to know about everything. I was lucky that I healed quickly and was even ahead of schedule. Whether I will ever have to go back later is hard to say now. And looking ahead is difficult with my job, so I'll see. But if I do, I won't have to think for a second about which Clinic I go to. And does a great role come along tomorrow that requires me to be completely bald? Then I'll do it immediately. But at least I have the choice now."
