"During treatment, the doctors told me step by step what they were going to do. They took me through everything. Meanwhile, they chatted with me about their work and hobbies. One of them joked, 'Some people knit, we like to do this.' Those light-hearted conversations and jokes put me at ease. It was a long day, but if it must be, then preferably in such a controlled environment. I was hopeful that my life would be a lot more fun after this. That a year from now I'll be sitting on the couch, actually wanting to stay home one night, but then going out anyway, because yes, my hair looks so good."

A clear and calm recovery

With the follow-up interview in mind and a clear roadmap on paper, Pieter came home. "The first two days I had to sleep upright, which was no fair. I felt like a silly person and was like a patient. That wasn't surprising either, because I just needed time to recover from an intense surgery. The team at Zantman Clinic was always there for me by phone; that's also how my recovery went well."
