Home Hair Transplant Techniques Micro FUE

Micro FUE

Micro FUE is a variation of the FUE method. This technique has to do with the way the FUE method is performed. Below is an overview of the main advantages and disadvantages of this treatment.

What is a Micro FUE

Micro FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) is a type of hair transplant procedure in which individual hair follicles are harvested from a donor area and transplanted to areas where hair loss or thinning has occurred. The term "micro" in Micro FUE refers to the use of microsurgical instruments during the procedure. Micro FUE is an advanced hair transplant technique. How does a Micro FUE hair transplant work?

  1. Donor area identification: The physician identifies an appropriate donor area on the client's scalp, usually on the back or sides of the head, where the hair follicles are genetically resistant to hair loss.
  2. Extraction of donor hairs: Using a microsurgical instrument such as a punch or needle, individual hair follicles are gently removed from the donor area. This process is minimally invasive and leaves small puncture wounds that heal without significant scarring.
  3. Preparation of follicles: The harvested hair follicles are sorted and prepared for transplantation. They are usually cleaned and trimmed to ensure optimal quality of grafts .
  4. Creation of receiving sites: Small incisions or cuts are made in the recipient area where hair loss or thinning has occurred. These receiving sites are strategically created to mimic the natural pattern and direction of hair growth.
  5. Placement of grafts: The prepared follicles are then transplanted to the recipient sites. The surgeon places each graft individually, paying attention to angle, depth and placement to achieve a natural-looking result.
  6. Recovery and growth: After the procedure, the transplanted hair follicles enter a resting phase and lose their hair shafts within a few weeks. New hair growth usually begins within a few months, and over time the transplanted hairs continue to grow and blend with the existing hair.

Micro FUE hair transplantation is considered an advanced technique that offers several advantages over traditional hair transplantation methods. These include minimal scarring, faster healing, reduced postoperative discomfort and the ability to extract hair follicles from different body areas if needed.

It is important to consult a qualified and experienced specialist to determine if Micro FUE is an appropriate option for your specific hair loss problems and to discuss the potential risks, benefits and expected results of the procedure.

The benefits of Micro FUE

A Micro FUE of the hair has several advantages:

  • The impact on the donor area is minimal.
  • It offers rapid healing of the donor area.
  • With a few grafts , a very fine hair implant can be made.
  • A suitable method for coarse hair structure, where single grafts have quite a lot of volume and often color.

The disadvantages of Micro FUE for hair

The main disadvantage of Micro FUE is that it requires a lot of grafts (and treatment hours) to achieve the same result. Refining the donor material is not always effective and necessary.
